Check Out These Awesome Miniature Canon Camera Gachapon
Canon and Bandai are teaming up to expand their camera-themed gachapon collection.
Last year, Canon and Bandai released a Canon Miniature Camera Collection, comprising five special Canon cameras and accompanying lenses in tiny, keychain-friendly form. Now these five decidedly serious, professional cameras are getting some colorful, fun companions based on Canon compact cameras.
Canon’s extremely popular PowerShot G7X Mark III point-and-shoot camera is joining the Canon Miniature Collection in black and silver. Unfortunately, it won’t be available in the special graphite gray 30th anniversary edition this time. G7X III fans will have to settle for the real thing instead.
As Digital Camera Watch reports, the PowerShot ELPH 100HS, which is known in Japan as the IXY 210, is also joining the collection. The even more compact point-and-shoot will come in silver, orange, pink, and blue variants. The IXY series is extremely popular even today, especially among young photographers who want something cool and nostalgic.
The original five Canon Miniature Camera Collection collectibles will remain in the gachapon collection, including the Canon IV Sb with a Serenar 50mm f/1.8 I lens, the Canon 7S and 50mm f/0.95 prime, the Canon F-1 with the FD 55mm f/1.2 S.S.C. Aspherical, the legendary Canon EOS 5D Mark II and EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM, and the Canon EOS R1 mirrorless camera with the RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z lens in Canon’s classic professional white paint. All of these lenses are detachable too, which is a neat touch.
Canon says the updated gachapon collection will be available in gachapon machines in Japan starting in February 2027, and each pull is 400 yen, or about $2.50 at current exchange rates. Gachapon machines also appear elsewhere, including the U.S., though plays are typically a bit pricier.
PetaPixel readers may recall Nikon’s similar miniature camera gachapon, which launched in 2024 and expanded the following year. When applicable, Nikon’s miniature cameras also have detachable lenses, and the company included some of its popular Coolpix compact cameras in the collection.
Keychain collectibles like this are an affordable, fun way to show off a love of photography. Of course, if someone wanted a specific gachapon, the cost could quickly escalate. They are pulled at random, so it can take many attempts to get the exact camera someone wants.
